The museum reopened in new surroundings in August 2026, in a historic building at LEO Pharma’s Danish headquarters in Ballerup. Alongside the exhibition it houses a historical archive and a large collection of documents, photographs, packaging and artefacts. The museum is run by the LEO Foundation, and a small team registers, describes and looks after the collection day to day. Each item needs its own record, with dimensions, language, country, dates, descriptions and notes, and an exact place on a shelf in the museum’s storage. The collection now counts close to 10,000 artefacts, and registration is an ongoing job. Keeping records consistent, knowing which items are out on loan, and making sure every photograph stays linked to the right artefact calls for one structured system where the records, the files and the loans are kept together. The Solution ## A Collection Database Shaped Around the Museum LEO Museum uses Kontainer PIM as its collection database. Every artefact is a record with an automatically assigned artefact number and a structured set of details: category, language, country, year and decade, dimensions, storage location, descriptions, notes, history, and copyright and GDPR status. Fields such as country, language and shelf are picked from controlled lists, which keeps the data clean and consistent across the whole collection. Photographs, scans, film and sound live in the Kontainer DAM and are linked to their artefacts, so the files can be found from the record, and the record from the file. Bulk actions take the effort out of everyday registration, and completeness handling shows which records are still missing details.
